Are you a new family to the Richmond community? Are you considering sending your child to Richmond Community Schools? Would you lot like a tour of the facility to look at the high-quality programs Richmond Community Schools has to offer your kid? Then yous are invited to join Superintendent Walmsley and the edifice administrators for a tour of our edifice(s) every Tuesday at x o'clock. You will receive a personal tour of our facilities, information about programming options for your child and witness first-hand the quality educational programs Richmond Community Schools has to offer y'all and your child. And when the bout is over, you even have the choice to relish a Gratuitous Lunch in one of our cafeterias and taste the nutritious meals our students relish served past our dedicated Nutrient Service staff. In addition, we will offer your child an opportunity to "shadow" the residuum of the day with one of our students to see the school from their perspective.

Backpack Blessings from the Community
The Backpack Blessings program in the Richmond Customs Schools is a school/church/community effort to help feed students in the district who are food insecure. This program began as a partnership betwixt the Richmond Community Schools and the Starting time United Methodist Church of Richmond. It has since grown to include many churches, local service groups, clubs, businesses and individuals who donate nutrient, goods, services and/or money to help insure the success of the program.
Students and their families who authorize for the Backpack Blessings program are identified through the teachers and social workers in the schools. Every family in the plan receives enough nutrient for 2 dinners, ii lunches, 2 breakfasts, and snacks. Half dozen weeks of rotating menus are used to avert giving families besides much of the same foods, and the menus take into business relationship appropriate nutrition.
The program is an agency of the Michigan Department of Education TEFAP and is a Gleaners partner. Both TEFAP and Gleaners are a source of perishable and not-perishable nutrient. The program as well regularly receives non-perishable nutrient donations from diverse customs, church, and schoolhouse organizations.
Richmond High School donated a room that is used for storing food and packing meals. Each schoolhouse also has a food donation box in the front office. Volunteers purchase and pack, then deliver groceries to the families or the school selection-upwardly location. Offering commitment to families who want or need it has fabricated it possible to provide perishable foods such every bit milk, eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, and meat.
In addition to food donations, the program spends an average of $250 per calendar week for supplemental food items. Volunteers store at Gleaners, Sam'south Club, Costco, Walmart, Gordon Foods, Meijer, and Kroger using donated coupons whenever possible. All of our cash and gift card donations are used to buy food. The plan's authoritative costs, also equally the logistics of transporting, storing, and delivering food are supplied past volunteers.
In 2018, the Backpack Blessings program was able to provide over 15,000 meals to our families. The importance of this program cannot be overstated. Nutrient insecurity is known to create psychological stress in children and children under stress take difficulty succeeding in school.
A sincere thank you to the following groups and individuals who take donated to the program and to all of the individual and bearding donors who accept made this program possible in 2018. Through their generosity, we were able to raise over $14,000 to back up the program.

School Groups: Richmond Loftier Schoolhouse Interact (Key) Guild, Richmond Loftier Schoolhouse Chior
Businesses: Nino Salvaggio International, Kroger, Meijer, Walmart, Costco.
Individuals: Dr. and Mrs. Brian Pradko, Arlene Hicks, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ptak, Mr. and Mrs. Greg Urban, numerous individual donations from members of the Richmond United Methodist Church.
